One of the most grounding and satisfying things we can do in life is to use our talents. We are not meant to sit on them! Frank Sinatra said in an interview that he vocalized two hours a day, whether he was performing or not. It showed. That gave him the confidence to always be able to perform.
Our specific abilities lie latent within us and need to be developed. If they are not, they stay dormant, like a piece of unsculpted clay. Through training, practice, and study, we will improve and reach our potential.
What are your gifts? How do you express them?

I'm still trying to figure out what my talents might be.
ReplyDeleteBut I won't be torturing anyone with my singing any time soon :)
You are so funny, Jules! Seems to me you are a talented photographer, mother, baker, etc…
DeleteOh, Jules, I almost forgot, and writer!
ReplyDeleteAnother thought provoking post, Stephenie. I like to put my talents to practical use - knit sweaters and socks, make quilts and blankets for my bed, and, unlike Jules, I'm happy to torture people with my singing! LOL.
ReplyDeleteSinging is so healing, Bless. Even humming creates a vibrational shift in the body.
DeleteI have to admit I have very few talents! No one wants to hear me sing and I am not at all graceful. But, after years of knitting I think I am now very confident in my abilities.
ReplyDeleteI think you have numerous talents, Anita! You are a professional pilot, you grow your own food, knit afghans and sweaters, cook, bake, keep a tidy and beautiful home, and you are a great listener and friend.
DeleteI agree. And yes, writing too for you :) I do believe that we all have a gift. I remember when I left my yoga studio, asking a business woman what I should do as a job. She said that we should always do what we are good at. So I continued yoga teaching, mentoring, taking seminars, doing healing. I'm glad that I listened to her.
ReplyDeleteThat’s so true, Ratnamurti. Thank you. Teaching is a much needed talent in this world.
DeleteI like to encourage people. I don't have an artistic talent, but I like to give people a positive and uplifting place to come and even for a moment escape the negativity of life. This is why I started my blog. Wonderful post, thank you so much for sharing ❤️ 😊
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. It sounds like you have a clear vision for your gifts.
