While in Norway, I purchased one of their beautiful traditional sweaters. It is so warm, thick and cozy!
The matching gloves are exceptional quality. I have been wearing them in the mountains, they are double knit.
The above slippers are from a quaint shop carrying lovely hand knits in Iceland.
These gorgeous hand knit sweaters are made with Icelandic wool. They really cut the wind and insulate the body. I have been wearing layers each day, and have put the flannel sheets back on the bed. The throws that I knit and crocheted add a comforting warmth as we sleep.
How is the weather where you live? Are you making soups and stews? Hope you are staying warm, or cool for the Aussies.

I'm not a wearer of knitted garments - I don't really feel the cold - but I always buy Icelandic & Nordic jumpers and cardis when I find them in charity shops as they're really good sellers. I dug out my alpaca wrist warmers to walk down to the swimming baths this morning as it was around 4°C at 7am this morning.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a fan of soups and stews but I'll eat a curry all year round! xxx
I bet they are very popular, Vic. People know the quality, and they last. Enjoy that curry! My dad’s favorite…
DeleteYou are really going to keep warm this winter.
ReplyDeleteYes, that’s true, Poppypatchwork. I love this time of year. It’s so comfortable.
DeleteIt is still lovely weather here, but it is getting colder. I am using both the heated mattress pad AND the electric blanket at night. I haven't started wearing my knit sweaters yet though. I cook both stews and soups this time of year. The first pot of black beans and chicken tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful, Anita. My mom loved her electric blanket, too. I love the cooking we do as it gets colder.
DeleteThose knitted items look lovely and warm. I tend to feel cold unless it's in the 80s or above, so, I've been dressing in layers, myself, and switched to flannel sheets at the beginning of this month. Lots of quilts and blankets on the bed, too. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like my place, Bless. In LA it’s often warmer outside than it is inside the cottage.
DeleteIt's only just turned really cold here and I'm loving having the woodstove lit. It's definitely warm clothes weather now.
ReplyDeleteIt’s the same, here, Cherie. I love the feeling of warm, winter knits and blankets.
DeleteI love Icelandic knits, Stephenie, they never seem to date. When my brother visits Norway on one of his cruises he always brings at least one back with him. I keep looking in charity shops for them but they are nowhere to be found! You should be really warm this Winter :)
ReplyDeleteAngie
That’s true, Angie. They are so classic. I hope you can get one through your brother. They are such exceptional quality.
DeleteThe jumper is gorgeous. I expect it will keep you wonderfully cosy and warm.
ReplyDeleteThe temperature here has dropped suddenly overnight, with snow expected in the next couple of days. Xx
We have had snow in the mountains, too, Jules. The right clothing makes such a difference in comfort.
