Today I felt motivated to put some fresh henna in my hair. The grey roots have been growing in, and I like to bump up the color with red, natural Avigail Henna. At this stage of my life, I have to leave it on for four hours, to successfully cover the grey. It always makes me feel happier and brighter once it's done, though. My ends could use a trim, but I will hide them by braiding my hair and sweeping it up on top of my head.
I haven't been manicuring my nails since the pandemic hit, but today I will. After they are scrubbed clean, I will carefully polish them with my favorite mauve color. It's the little things that make us feel feminine and attractive.
How are your hair and nails looking these days? Are you doing your own maintenance at home?

Well done on having some 'me' time. Ive never used Henna but a friend swears by it. I've been taking some supplements for nails and hair. Hopefully I see the results next month.
ReplyDeleteThanks Frugal. I really love henna, too. It makes me feel like a new woman! I hope the supplements help you.
DeleteI'm glad you were able to color your hair and plan to give yourself a manicure. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't do anything to my hair. I don't color it and it is slowly going grey, which is fine with me. I am still trying to grow it out after loosing most of it during chemo; very occasionally, I will trim the ends, but, I do it at home, myself. I keep my nails trimmed short and only rarely will I apply polish. I guess I am very low maintenance! LOL.
Oops! That should be losing, not loosing!
DeleteWhat matters is that you like it. I love grey hair on other woman, but don't like it on myself. The red brings out my eyes and goes much better with my complexion. I just looked completely grey and washed out when I didn't use the henna.
DeleteSounds like a great and natural idea! My hair is so thin, I really can't dye it if I want it to stick around another couple of decades. lol Andrea
ReplyDeleteMy mom had very fine hair, too, Andrea. Mine is the opposite. It's super thick, so I usually braid it and wear it up.
DeleteMy hair is its natural color, rather faded at my age. Maybe I will look into henna. I think it would be fun to try henna. I use nail polish most of the time in pretty colors.
ReplyDeleteHi Terra, Mine did, too. Henna really looks natural. I love the effect. The sun really picks up the natural highlights, and it is made from a plant. Let me know if you try it, and how like it.
DeleteI love my grey hair, but you do what is right for you, of course. My hair could do with a trim but I am not going to try to do it myself!
ReplyDeleteMine could, too, emw. But, I am staying home until this virus issue is resolved. I do have a yoga student who cuts hair in a converted garage at her home, so that may be an option in time.
DeleteI've never coloured my hair or my nails for that matter but the thought of missing out on any of my daily hygiene turns me cold and when this all started up, I made sure I had a few bottles of stuff in store, just in case.
ReplyDeleteThe hair is getting a bit long but is holding its shape. I just keep the fringe under control!
xx
Hi Joy, I know what you mean. I am so glad that I bought two extra large bottles of Pantene shampoo when it was on sale. It makes such a difference to keep up on your grooming. Glad to hear that you had a couple of extra bottles in your stash.
DeleteIt does us good to spend a bit of time pampering doesn't it. My nails are in dreadful shape. Try as I may nothing seems to improve them. Thankfully my hair is in really good condition. I haven't dyed it in years and am really surprised at how little grey there is in it.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful, Cherie. I think I am probably totally grey now, but I've used henna since my thirties, so I only see the roots. You are fortunate to still have your natural color. My mom was that way until she died.
DeleteI haven't done anything with my hair in ages. It usually gets tied back so I don't worry about it too much, although there are some greys beginning to appear so that may need to change soon. X
ReplyDeleteHi Jules, I tie my hair back, too. It's easy and clean.
DeleteI allowed the grey to grow in a couple of years ago. I am OK with that. I have just cut my fringe but am leaving the rest. I do manicure my nails regularly but don't bother with the varnish. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHi mm, That sounds like a simple and pleasant routine. I would like to get my hair trimmed, but will wait until it's safe to do so.
DeleteI am lucky that my hair is going gray slowly plus I have a couple of white streaks around my face that my hair cutter says are cool. But I would really like to be able to let it keep growing and just have one braid in the back to wear up or down. I just don't think I can braid it myself. We'll see as it grows.
ReplyDeleteI keep my nails short as they split a lot. Polish doesn't look as pretty on stubby fingers but hey I might put some on for a boost as well. Off to the shower....
Hi Debbi, Have you ever tried bending over from the waist to braid your hair? That's what I do, and for me it makes it easier.
DeleteA timely update! I rarely have a manicure because I keep my nails short and buff them to a shine every few days. I am a habitual cuticle picker which is not good. Polish tends to chip right off! My poor hair is becoming a cause of angst though. I religiously have it professionally dyed every 6 weeks and set my series of appointments with the hairdresser months in advance. It will be 12 weeks by the time of my next appointment and the gray roots are already about an inch long. Should I just go 100% gray? It is the decision of the month!!
ReplyDeleteHi Anita, Oh, buffed nails look so pretty. I'll be interested to hear what you decide to do with your hair. I use something called Wow that is a powder you can brush on your roots. It works really well.
DeleteI actually put polish on my toenails, the first time in months! It makes me happy to look down and see cute pink ties. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI want to do the same thing, now that it's sandal weather, Mereknits. Glad to hear that it makes you feel happy.
DeleteI'm in need if a hair cut, but it will wait until safe to do so. I just braid my hair also, that keeps it neat and tidy, not that I am going anywhere for anyone to see haha!
ReplyDeleteMy nails don't get manicured, so no problems there.
