Health Insurance

The other day I received a letter from Covered California letting me know that I needed to submit proof of income to them for last year.  I stopped off at my accountant's office today and picked up the tax information that I needed to fax.

I don't have a fax machine, so I used the service at our local hardware store.  It took a while for Covered California  to receive it, but eventually the pages were all transmitted.  That's a huge relief.  I receive a generous subsidy from our government for my health insurance.  It's important to stay on top of the paperwork in order to qualify.  I'm so glad it's all finished.

I started watering the trees this afternoon, and stopped as the sky turned grey.  I put the hose away, and then it started to sprinkle.  I'm hoping for a dramatic storm.  So far it's just dark and impending.

How has the weather been where you live?

  1. It’s been raining here too.

I like it because when I’m busy I forget to water the garden. So rain takes care of it. 😊

    Have a wonderful week, Stephenie.

  2. Having health insurance is such an important thing, isn't it? Especially at this time of the pandemic. It is so good that you are on top of things, especially the paperwork.

I hope you get some rain. No rain over here. It was 108F today!

    1. It sure is, Bless. I like faxing the info to them so I have a record that they received it. Yikes, 108F! It's comfortable up in the mountains. That heat can be so draining.

  3. Although our NHS is absolutely amazing I was so pleased that Tony has a health insurance package through his employer. The waiting list for hip replacements can often be a couple of years. Anyone who has suffered from arthritis will know the agony that it entails. Thankfully I was seen immediately and within three months I had my op. If insurance companies didn't require that the surgeon tries a steroid injection into the joint I would have had the op much sooner too. They can't operate within three months of the steroid injection... which didn't work. The weather has been great for my garden. Plenty of soft rain and warm sunshine.

    1. I agree, Cherie. I had my hips done one month after seeing my surgeon. Waiting would have been unbearable.I never had the injections. Glad to hear you are enjoying such pleasant weather.

  5. I hope you got some rain! We don't have a fax machine either. I usually take a photo of the paper, put it on my computer and then convert to PDF and send email. But otherwise, going to the local hardware store is much better than buying a fax machine for the small amount of time you need one. Andrea

    1. Sometimes I do that, too, Andrea. I like having the record of the fax for Covered California.

  6. The large storm clouds build up over the mountains here almost every afternoon this time of year. They are so pretty, but can be dangerous as we Southern Californians know all to well. I hope you had a good soaking rain. It is hot down here, but survivable as long as the breeze blows from the west off the ocean.

    1. Glad to hear that you have an ocean breeze, Anita. It is raining here right now. I love it. I just finished a pair of socks for a friend.

  7. We had a couple of random showers of rain today. Once when I was out walking, lucky I was nearly home. Then another heavy shower just on dark when I was driving home from ukulele class. It was enough to freshen all the plants up again so I don't have to water.

I hope you got some rain from those dark clouds.

  8. Love dramatic storms. And the gift of rain that they bring. In Maori culture, it is said that rain are the tears of sky father and earth mother having been separated. Which is rather beautiful.
