Fourth of July Visit
I went home to visit my dad and brothers for the 4th of July. My middle brother and I watched the fireworks from my dad's bedroom window while he was sleeping. They were spectacular. The sounds were booming through the night. It brought back memories of Disneyland.
We just had an earthquake as I was blogging. Lula and I went and stood under the bedroom door frame. That's what they used to teach us to do in school. They also cautioned us to stay away from large windows. Lula just wagged her tail and smiled at me. She didn't seem concerned at all.

Happy 4th of July. I'm relieved to read you're OK after the earthquake. X
ReplyDeleteHi Jules, Thank you. It was mild where I live. Hope all's well.
DeleteHow nice that you were able to get together with your family over the holiday! Glad you are doing OK with the earthquake and Lula didn't mind it! Dancer was all spooked by it! These days, they say to take cover under a table and hold on, but, I stood in the kitchen doorway, myself, because I was cooking when the house shook!
ReplyDeleteHi Bless, Thank you. We used to crouch under our desks at school. I think that was for air raid drills. I've grown up with earthquakes, and we used to think they were kind of fun. I was working in Atlantic City during the Northridge one.
DeleteI thought of you and Lula after hearing about the earthquake last night. I'm so glad you're both okay. Our son and fiance (and many, many family members) live on the West Coast of Canada in B.C. and they've had several strong earthquakes over the last few days as well. Scary and worrisome!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful July 4th with your family. New memories!

Hi Chy, Thanks for thinking of us. I love your profile photo!
DeleteWonderful that you managed to spend quality time with your family and create some lovely memories to treasure. Glad to read everything was OK with the earthquake, scary times.
ReplyDeleteHi mamasmercantile, Oh, yes, it wasn't that intense. I heard from a few friends who felt it, too.
DeleteI understand it was quite a quake! We did not feel a thing down here. I was wondering if you felt any of them.
ReplyDeleteHi Anita, I was traveling during the first one. This one reminded me of the ship rocking during a storm. It was pretty gentle out here.
DeleteHope you’re ok.
ReplyDeleteAll's well, Akasha. Hope you are healthy and happy.
DeleteI was thinking of you and a friend who lives in Carlsbad. She is fine, no worries. Glad you are too.
ReplyDeleteHi Mereknits, Thank you. Yes, the wind chimes were tinkling, and my chair was rocking. That's about it here. We were fortunate.
DeleteI’m glad to hear you are safe, Stephenie.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been scary. I’ve never experienced earthquakes.
Thanks Nil. It's part of living in California. Most of the ones that I've felt have been small, thank goodness.
