On Saturday I was happily surprised to receive two bouquets of gorgeous tulips from hollandridgefarms.com. I wasn't expecting them. I had started to place an order on their website for peonies, and then canceled it. (once I realized that you need to order those in the fall.) I will go back and reorder. These bulbs are spectacular! I am eagerly waiting for them to open and bloom. I have been changing the water in their crystal vase each day. They sent me both yellow and red ones...my two favorite colors when I was a little girl. How thoughtful of them. (and a smart business move.)
Many people are relaxing their Covid restrictions here, but I am still being very careful. I shop for groceries at 6:00 or 7:00 a.m., and spend a lot of time bicycling, walking, and hiking. I turned down a recent invitation to a fantastic party in Las Vegas. I would love to connect with my friends, but I just don't feel like it's safe yet. Patience is a virtue. I chat with my close friends on the phone, and keep in touch with others online. I don't feel comfortable getting the vaccine at this time. I plan to wait a year.
Spring is definitely here. I have been feeding the fruit trees homemade compost, added a layer of mulch, and have been giving them plenty of water. They really respond to the care.
Lula and I have also been soaking up the sunlight and vitamin D. It really makes a difference in how you feel, I think. Is it sunny right now where you live?

Such beautiful flowers. Gorgeous. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joy. Those pink geraniums have been blooming all year. They love a shot of compost tea. It seems to really brighten their color.
DeleteOh yes, it is very sunny here today and should be for the rest of this week. It was really foggy most of the last few days though. Your grapefruit look delicious. It is amazing how a little bit of effort in the yard makes such a difference in the health of the plants. Stay safe and healthy!
ReplyDeleteThat's true, Anita. The small things do make a big difference. (Just like with housework.)
DeleteIt is autumn here in New Zealand. But still warmish. Although we are quite safe ovid-wise, at the moment, I am still taking a lot of precautions. It's worth it.
ReplyDeleteThat's wise, ratnamurti. It can hit so quickly. I was amazed at how hard and fast it got into my system. Such a shock...
DeleteHow nice of the company to send you flowers! Your pink geraniums are looking very healthy. Mine are flowering, too, although, I think it is time to transplant them into a bigger pot!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are continuing to take precautions and taking it slow to get back to in person socializing. I've taken the 1st dose of the vaccine and will be getting the 2nd dose on Sunday, but, I, too plan to take it easy and continue to be cautious.
Yes, it is sunny and in the upper 80s, here, today. Loving it!
Oh, it's gorgeous, Bless. It turns out those weren't from the company, they were a gift from my friend in New Jersey. They are just gorgeous. Glad to hear that you got your vaccine...good luck on Suday with the econd dose.
DeleteDelicious looking grapefruits, Stephenie. Are those from your trees?
ReplyDeleteYesterday I got the second dose of the vaccine. It was a bit difficult this time, I had body aches, runny nose and a slight headache. 24 hrs later I still feel a bit lethargic, but I’m glad to get it done. Still I continue to wear masks and keep safe distance from everyone.
Thanks, Nil. Yes, I bought that Ruby Red grapefruit tree at Costco. I'm sorry that you had a reaction to the second vaccine. I hope you feel better soon.
DeleteNo sun here as yet but I am ever hopeful it is on its way. We opted into the vaccine process but we still plan to be cautious and take every precaution.
ReplyDeleteThat is wise, mm. It has been incredibly sunny here the fast few days. it feels wonderful.
DeleteRestrictions have never been a strong point in Florida but I stay safe using precautions even though I have now had my second shot. It went really smoothly with just a wee bit of being tired. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThat's great, Mereknits. I'm happy for you, and pleased that you didn't suffer any negative reactions.
