Cutting the Confetti Soap

This morning I took the soap out of its mold. I let it sit for a few hours before cutting it. I wasn't able to get as clean of a cut as I would have liked, but I think the soaps are still lovely.  I was nervous about how they would come out; I can trim off the raggedy bits.  It's a relief when a new technique works.

I've been doing a lot of housework today. I needed to clean and straighten. I've really got to go through my kitchen cupboards and get rid of the things that I don't need. They are taking up too much space. I will put together a donation bag for the Salvation Army.

I plan to spend some time knitting my sweater today. For some reason, I haven't been knitting. I think it's because this is a new technique that I'm doing.  I have to concentrate and study the directions.

Thank you for your comments. They add so much talent and energy to the blog. Please comment in English. I'm sorry, but comments with links will not be published.

    1. Thanks Andrea. I made a mistake on my short rows, so I am going to have to rip it all back and redo it tomorrow.

  2. Soaps look lovely.
I hope your knitting project is going well.
I just started learning crochet and did the chain stitch. I have to practice a lot because I can't hold the yarn with my left hand properly. :)

    1. Hi Nil, Good for you. Once you get the hang of holding the yarn in your left hand it will be second nature.

  4. Such a lovely technique to add shavings in a bright colour. I may well give this a try.

    1. Thanks mamasmercantile, I was very pleased with the contrast. The pink soap gelled because I made it in the crockpot. I hope you enjoy your soaps. It's easy to add the grated soap to the batter.

  6. soaps are very pretty!
it's a bugga when you do a mistake, isn't it? it's why i prefer to knit in the mornings when my mind is fresh; am too tired in the evenings & the concentration just isn't there. good luck with it
    thanx for sharing

    1. Thanks Selina. I fixed the second side today. I will redo the first side tomorrow. With all this extra practice, I finally understand how to do the shadow short rows. They are pretty.

  7. As always your soap is lovely. I found short rows to be very confusing and to tell the truth I think I may have done it incorrectly on my last sweater. The cardigan I am knitting now also uses short row so I will have to re-learn it. I am looking forward to seeing the progress on yours.

    1. Hi Anita. I took some photos this afternoon. I will post them. I had trouble for a while, too. I am comfortable doing wrap and turn short rows, but this technique is totally different. I have finally gotten the hang of it. I can see why you found it confusing. I was uncomfortable with them for weeks.

  8. I bet those soaps smell delicious, they are so pretty. Have fun knitting, I need to get busy on those baby blankets I have been making. I am getting bored with them and just need to be done. Have a great week.

    1. Hi Cherie, It was actually kind of giving me a headache. ha ha! Sometimes the initial scent is a bit much, but once it fades I love it.
