Cutting the Confetti Soap
This morning I took the soap out of its mold. I let it sit for a few hours before cutting it. I wasn't able to get as clean of a cut as I would have liked, but I think the soaps are still lovely. I was nervous about how they would come out; I can trim off the raggedy bits. It's a relief when a new technique works.
I've been doing a lot of housework today. I needed to clean and straighten. I've really got to go through my kitchen cupboards and get rid of the things that I don't need. They are taking up too much space. I will put together a donation bag for the Salvation Army.
I plan to spend some time knitting my sweater today. For some reason, I haven't been knitting. I think it's because this is a new technique that I'm doing. I have to concentrate and study the directions.

Very pretty! Have fun knitting. Andrea
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea. I made a mistake on my short rows, so I am going to have to rip it all back and redo it tomorrow.
DeleteSoaps look lovely.
ReplyDeleteI hope your knitting project is going well.
I just started learning crochet and did the chain stitch. I have to practice a lot because I can't hold the yarn with my left hand properly. :)
Hi Nil, Good for you. Once you get the hang of holding the yarn in your left hand it will be second nature.
DeleteLove your soaps! X Chy
ReplyDeleteThanks Chy. Me, too! It's such a fun hobby and home based business.
DeleteSuch a lovely technique to add shavings in a bright colour. I may well give this a try.
ReplyDeleteThanks mamasmercantile, I was very pleased with the contrast. The pink soap gelled because I made it in the crockpot. I hope you enjoy your soaps. It's easy to add the grated soap to the batter.
DeleteThe soaps look lovely. X
ReplyDeleteThanks Jules. It's fun to cut into it and see how it looks.
Deletesoaps are very pretty!
ReplyDeleteit's a bugga when you do a mistake, isn't it? it's why i prefer to knit in the mornings when my mind is fresh; am too tired in the evenings & the concentration just isn't there. good luck with it
thanx for sharing
Thanks Selina. I fixed the second side today. I will redo the first side tomorrow. With all this extra practice, I finally understand how to do the shadow short rows. They are pretty.
DeleteAs always your soap is lovely. I found short rows to be very confusing and to tell the truth I think I may have done it incorrectly on my last sweater. The cardigan I am knitting now also uses short row so I will have to re-learn it. I am looking forward to seeing the progress on yours.
ReplyDeleteHi Anita. I took some photos this afternoon. I will post them. I had trouble for a while, too. I am comfortable doing wrap and turn short rows, but this technique is totally different. I have finally gotten the hang of it. I can see why you found it confusing. I was uncomfortable with them for weeks.
DeleteI bet those soaps smell delicious, they are so pretty. Have fun knitting, I need to get busy on those baby blankets I have been making. I am getting bored with them and just need to be done. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mereknits. Yes, they have a nice scent. I saw the photos of your baby blankets. They are lovely. I hope you get them finished.
DeleteI bet your kitchen smells gorgeous
ReplyDeleteHi Cherie, It was actually kind of giving me a headache. ha ha! Sometimes the initial scent is a bit much, but once it fades I love it.
DeleteThat confetti soap looks lovely! One of these days, I might be brave enough to try soap making!
ReplyDeleteThose soaps look positively edible!
